  • About Us
Love18 seems like an ordinary name, it sure is but the meaning behind the ordinary name is a couple's love. It is their anniversary remembrance and also the reason why they started their own little lovely chocolate business. It takes a lot of passion to be running and making their own chocolate - it is really not easy to do all the research and to produce these good quality chocolates.

Some of the chocolate sampling - boy those dark chocolate are really bitter! I'm not really a fan of dark chocolate - but I have to admit these chocolates are definitely not the low grade ones you get off shelves. These will melt if it is exposed to heat, as they use premium ingredients, real cocoa butter to craft them. Those little pink wrappers are bittersweet champagne truffles which melts in the mouth!!

Apart from chocolates, they also have cakes and coffee just like any other lifestyle cafes.

We were taught how to appreciate couverture chocolate instead of the regular commercial compound chocolate. Long story short, couverture chocolate requires more effort and it is better quality as compared to compound chocolate which is normally the chocolate you get in the supermarket.

Some of the samples we got for the day from top left to bottom right:
  1. Compound chocolate
  2. 54% Dark chocolate from Barry Callebaut Belgium
  3. 70% Dark chocolate from Barry Callebaut Belgium
  4. 80% Dark chocolate from Barry Callebaut Belgium
  5. Valrhona, France Madagascar Kalingo 64% Dark Chocolate
  6. Valrhona, Equator Alpaco 55% Dark Chocolate
  7. Valrhona, Grenada Island Kalingo 64% Dark Chocolate
  8. Valrhona, Venezuela Araguani 72% Dark Chocolate
  9. Valrhona Opalys 33% White Chocolate
  10. Barry Callebaut Milk Chocolate 34%
Mango chocolate and strawberry chocolate. I did not quite like the fruit flavouring - I find it a little too artificial, I actually prefer the chocolate by itself.

We were given a little history of cocoa beans and where to find them. Just like coffee, chocolate is best taken with little, well actually some would say no sugar at all, to taste the best.

We were also very privileged to be able to see how they make their chocolates. Room temperature is very important in their kitchen as you don't want some of these hard work to melt off!

All of us received a wonderful goody bag from Love18, and thank you very much Eddie for sharing the love with all of us!

Eddie and his wife also had something to share with us for that evening - to love and to spread love.

Special thanks to Eddie and wife for hosting and KetchUp's team for organising.

More and more pet cafes are blooming in Klang Valley, Purradise Cat Cafe showcases some of their beautiful cats, well mostly asleep.

It was a bit confusing when I first arrived, apparently they charge by hours of visit.

There are beautiful props all over the shop for cats to run around and chill.

Well cats really love to sleep!

First hour of hanging around costs RM15 and it comes with a smoothie.

There are also savoury selections and it looks like the more you order the longer you can stay.

Your contribution will keep the shop running. Initially I thought RM15 was a little too expensive, but not quite if you need to feed the cats and such.

The famous cafe all over Korea for their Bingsu.

Here you'll get the famous Korean bingsu which is all over the streets in Korea. This is the remedy to our really hot weather!

The garlic cheese toast is also pretty popular amongst patrons... Mmmmm garlic lovers should try!

I was confused AF when I wanted to order. All I wanted was just a cup of yogurt but what the hell they have it in so many forms and those toppings are giving me so much trouble picking them!

So I've decided to get the small one which ones with one topping. If you're like me being confused AF, just get one small one with NO toppings. Much easier to decide otherwise people behind you will be thinking what the hell is wrong with you for taking so long. Not like I spent a long time, I'm just saying that there may be some froyo lovers dying for one behind you.

RM10.90 for a cup with one topping.

I like mine without topping actually. The sweet topping and the sour yogurt doesn't blend. Perhaps I'm one of those who loves it plain sour.

Iced Lemongrass Tea (RM7.50)

Serai, is the malay word for lemongrass. Malays use a lot of lemongrass in their cooking, apart from the Thais. It's a very important herb to create the aroma in their cooking. Not just food, lemongrass makes very refreshing drinks too. I personally love lemongrass in any thing, from food to drinks and lemongrass products are perfect to keep mosquito away!

BEHOLD TO THE BEST BANANA FRITTERS. YUMMERS.

Pandan Banana Fritters with Palm Sugar (RM13)

Banana fritters coated with pandan flavoured batter. Some people complain that it's overpriced street food served the fancy way. I completely disagree. Please respect them and give Serai some credits for dishing up such a wonderful dessert. Our local dessert deserves a recognition and not "some cheap food by the street". The batter is very light and crusty on the outside, whereas the banana inside is soft like cake, little bit gooey from the heat. It's like having the crispiest cookie with flowing chocolate. Too good! Street food, sadly tend to overcook and the batter is not as perfect. I completely agree that the price they charge, is reasonable. Don't forget the scoop of ice cream, even if you get it from ice cream joints, it would cost at least RM6ish for one scoop. So please, analyse a little bit more before degrading them for trying to promote our local dessert on a better plate.

Serai can be found in malls within Klang Valley. They offer good choices of local eats and some Western selections. It is best to make a reservation as they are always packed, especially during Ramadhan month. If you're visiting Kuala Lumpur, I would highly recommend this place if you want to try local Malay food in a comfortable and air-conditioned place.

Red Velvet Cake

Surprisingly popular spot for coffee in 1 Utama. Cold Brew Coffee is readily available in quaint bottles.

The place is rather small with really limited number of tables. I would recommend their cake - right amount of sugar and it's super moist! Will definitely be back to try other cakes too.

Like it's name, it's just a nice space for Instagrammers to post their Instagram worthy shots.

Regular teabags served in pretty pots, desserts pre-made, not particularly fresh.

All in all, just another pretty cafe in this area for Instagram shots. It's a cool and pretty place but really, nothing worth to make a second visit.

One of those hipster cafes in Ho Chi Minh City

Honestly apart from the ambience everything else were just not so great.

Red velvet cupcakes being overly sweet.

..and coffee? Not sure if I'm having Viet coffee. Didn't taste/smell strong. Or they serve really mild coffee. I'm not particularly great coffee drinker, but I've had Viet coffee many times to realise that it shouldn't be this diluted and mild.

Not sure why is it so popular.... There are other places worth going for than L'Usine. This coffee place is near some of the shopping streets. It could be a place to just chill after a long day but not that place worth travelling to just for it.
