I've celebrated my birthday two weeks ago, and these are my precious birthday cupcakes. Aren't they cute?
I love the candles too, the colour goes well with the cupcakes.
Make a wish baby :D

These cute cupcakes replica photos are provided by fellow blogger Bear Bear. You can't deny that she does look cute in the photo too. Go check out the pretty cupcakes house at Orchard Road Singapore before Christmas ends.
Jazrulfuad on flickr shared with us his beautiful photos of cupcakes. Jazrul has a set dedicated for desserts. You guys should check it out. I really love his artistic photoshots and also the luxious colourful desserts. You can also find Jazrul's alter ego at 4 Cakes in a Cup. You can browse their popular cakes and also place your order via telephone.

These are the mini chocolate cakes

You also have a different icing *wink

These are red velvet cupcakes with cheese topping

These looks really tempting to me. The buttercream cupcakes. The blue icing is really nice.

The little cheesecake in a cup

People often asked me, what's the difference between muffins and cupcakes. Comparing cupcakes and muffins is like comparing cookies and biscuits. They are similar, yet different.

Cupcakes belong to the cakes family. It has frosting all the time. This is the major difference - the frosting. Frosting enables cupcakes to be embellished in different ways. In the mouth, cupcakes are usually more moist. And of course cupcakes comes in a cup. I mean paper cup.

You'll notice, muffins are served without a cup. It belongs to the bread family instead of the cakes. It doesn't have frosting but it can be garnished with chocolate sauce. They are more dry in the mouth.

My fellow friend on Flickr shared his photo with us today. J Trav named this photo Everyday Essential Diptychs. Look at those funny faces. They are too cute to be eater.
This time I made banana cupcakes! It’s for Dixon. He doesn’t like chocolate but he still ate the chocolate cupcakes I made the other time. This time I have to compensate back, so I made for him banana cupcakes :) Usually I love making mini cupcakes, but this time I made a bigger one.

The recipe is here:

INGREDIENTS
100 g shortening
300 g sugar
2 eggs
5 ml vanilla extract
225 g mashed ripe bananas
60 ml buttermilk
250 g all-purpose flour
5 g baking powder
3 g baking soda
3 g salt

DIRECTIONS
1. In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Add the eggs, vanilla, bananas and buttermilk. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to banana mixture. Fill 18 paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full.

2. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Remove to wire racks to cool completely. In a small mixing bowl, cream the butter, sugar and enough milk to achieve desired spreading consistency. Frost cupcakes.
3. As usual I buy ready made frosting. It’s so much easier. And I added those sprinkles that left from the last time and decorated it with pink and purple flower. Don’t you just want to eat it?

I kept this humble rainbow sprinkles for myself. I prefer classic cupcakes rather than fancy ones though.

But those cupcakes didn’t end with a happy ending though. I made it for Dixon…but my stupid boyfriend ate it all before Dixon wakes up. I’m gonna try Strawberry Cupcakes next!

Ladies and gentlemen...(I guess there are more ladies here), I present to you our short sketch called Cupcakes Party! It is a very usual protocol that I should start with introduction of the stars. First, I present to you...

Biri the birthday boy!

And then you have Markus, the Japanese boy

Michelle, the cupcaker (cupcaker is a term concocted by me which means a person who makes cupcakes). She will be one of the administrator for this blog soon.

And of course, me, Jerine the frosting Queen...

First it was only me and Michelle...

We were very busy making cupcakes...

Our plan was to give Biri a surprise visit at his workplace. So we conspired Markus the fast and furious Skyline driver to get there in time. Unfortunately, the surprised was a failure. But Biri surprised us instead. He appeared at my door!!! It's OK...we just continue baking our cupcakes and everyone can enjoy it then. Cam-whoring while baking...

So pretentious...was trying so hard to look pretty. The truth was...

The fucking butter was so hard!!! Ooopssie... did I say the F word? Sorry...
This is our product at the end of the day...

Cow!!! OK, some insider joke. My boyfriend, Alwim calls me cow because I call him buffalo.
Photograph time with the birthday boy!!!

The birthday boy, Biri, kissed the frog!!!

Too bad...the frog remained a frog. It didn't turn up a prince. But he was hoping for a super hot princess instead.

Markus took the kawaii neko!!! Cat cat cat...

It really does look like Maneki Neko, the Japanese Beckoning Cat, which looks like this...

At the end of the day...Biri was soooooo happy!!!

P/S: we baked the chocolate cupcake. Recipe is on the previous post :)

Coming up next...Banana cupcake recipe

What do you do when you’re left alone in your boyfriend’s place? Don’t crack your head to think of what to do…just bake some cupcakes. He’ll be very happy to see it when he comes back from long tiring day of work. Here’s a chocolate cupcake recipe that I’ve tried.

INGREDIENTS

165 g all-purpose flour
1 g baking soda
9 g baking powder
65 g unsweetened cocoa powder
0.8 g salt
45 g butter, softened
300 g white sugar
2 eggs
4 ml vanilla extract
235 ml milk

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a muffin pan with paper or foil liners. Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa and salt. Set aside.

2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition, then stir in the vanilla. Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk; beat well. Fill the muffin cups 3/4 full.

3. Bake for 15 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Frost with your frosting when cool.

I’ve tried the bend ‘n’ bake mould. It’s really good and convenient. I’m going to get another set because 12 are not really enough.

I used ready made chocolate frosting. It's really much more time saving.

Here’s the sprinkle that I used. I asked the boys to choose their favorite color. Sadly, no one pick the green one. I’m saving that next for my monster cupcakes!!!

I found this bakeware at the supermarket today. This can be a really good substitute if you don't have a small tray for small cupcakes.

Look at the colors. Aren't they pretty? I always love pastel colors.

But this bakeware is not just pretty colors. It's made of silicone, so it's easy to bend. I wonder if you can put it in your breast?

Anyway, it looks like it's a good investment for me. It's mocrowave safe, oven safe, dishwasher safe, freezer safe, stain resistance, will not rust, corrade, dent, crack, or peel. But it can endure at temperature between -45 degrees to 250 degrees. If you have a super power oven than bakes more than 250 degrees, it is definitely not advisable to use these mini moulds.

The best thing of having this mini cup cake moulds is, you don't have to get any paper liner or paper mould. It will save you a lot of money in a long run.

I paid AUD 11.18 for 12 mini mould cup cakes. If you need more information, check out www.wiltshire-online.com

I'm going to bake my cupcakes now. I'll let you know if it's really good.

I'm not reviewing any cake store. This is actually a drama series. I am so fond with the cakes and confectionaries in the drama. It almost made my heart melted. All the cakes are so pretty. They are just too sweet to be eaten. Anyway... you can watch this online >>>> here. I bet you'll drool your way til the end of the show :)

Since I've not been updating, I thought of just browsing around for some cupcakes illustration. Aren't they all pretty? I'm sorry I couldn't give credit because I've lost track where I found all these photos. I just googled and post it up. My bad. Anyway, those are not my own artwork. Whoever did it...it's surely a great job :)
