Cafe hopping around the world

So this place became famous after a blog post...

My first impression before going to the place is they ONLY sell salted egg yolk croissant but no, they have other types too.

It costs approximately RM7.30 each after GST.

Well we love it - it's a pretty good snack to try! You can also heat it up with your oven if you want to have it at home.

P/S: Service isn't exceptional so no expectations there. To get a gift box you'll have to pay extra (can't remember the price), otherwise you'll get the ugly looking paper bag which you may accidentally squeeze if you didn't realise the bag's existence. Ridiculous that they can't even provide proper boxes when we bought a few to begin with. I could understand one, but hey you're marketing your brand with stickers on the box and you're charging your customers for it. Ok... Hope to see an improvement in their branding / service as the product itself is actually not bad.

A beautiful cafe. Very Instagram worthy place.

About the food, it seems like they love crepes so much they serve everything with crepes. Both sweet and savoury.

Purple Rage (RM9)

Sweet potato crepe with Japanese potatoes, sago and pandan infused gula melaka.

I ordered this because it's purple. Bimbo decision. As for the taste, it was really weird actually. I think sweet potatoes and gula melaka just didn't work very well.

Green Tea Molten Lava Cake (RM13)

So very Molten and they definitely did use good grade Matcha powder. Love it!

Some of the other crepes - my suggestion is do not be too adventurous, stick with the flavours you're familiar with. I'm surprised they don't have my favourite Nutella Banana Crepes though! It reminds me of summer in the UK :)

New restaurant along the shops in Damansara Kim.

Wine is currently free of charge if you BYOB.

Menu is extremely limited.

So glad that there is no corkage charge! Well, afterall our "personal" sommelier brought her own glasses too!

Fettuccini Alfredo with Truffle Oil (RM38)

I'm not sure if they named it correctly, aren't these Parpadelle?? Very small portion of pasta with very thinly shaved mushrooms. It's sad to know that with the price they are setting, they did not even add a few more slices of mushroom to it. I believe this is a vegetarian dish, only mushrooms and very strong truffle smell from the oil. The portion needs to be fixed, add more mushrooms and pasta to match the price.

Free Range Chicken (RM30)

This was even more disappointing. A very small cut - definitely the size of your iPhone 6. It was not done particularly special either, just very normal Teppan. Served with garlic flakes and sea salt. The only special thing about the dish is "free range". Still, it's as big as one piece of KFC chicken.

Japanese Wagyu Sirloin 120g (RM118)

Better be good for that price! It melted in the mouth, however I felt the middle part where the redish colour is at, was not room temperature. It was cold. I'm not sure about the pricing that they are charging considering that none of their savoury food is up to par. However, we tried this only after a week of their opening so they may have improved. Also served with garlic and sea salt, which is not creative at all.

Mushrooms with Garlic Butter (RM19)

This was sadly the most disappointing of all. It's another fancy name for pan-fried mushrooms. Anybody can do this at home. For RM18 you slice up to only 2 or 3 mushrooms? On top of that, it was tasteless. No garlic, no salt but just oil. We requested for salt and it tasted slightly better but really, anyone could do better than this. I would never recommend anyone to order this dish. Either improvise it, or reduce the price as it does not justify.

The dessert menu. We practically ordered almost everything! Despite all the misses for their savoury dishes, their desserts won all of our hearts.

Meringue Platter (RM18)

They actually have a prettier plate which looks like a donut ring but because we wanted to surprise our friend this was served on the normal plate instead.

UoVo Meringue (RM18)

Meringue nests with lemon curd and seasonal fruits. Actually not much difference with the previous.

Chamomile Panna Cotta (RM18)

Chamomile panna cotta with caramelised citrus rinds. I swear this is a panna cotta TO DIE FOR!!!!!!

Chocolate Tart (RM18)

Molten Lava (RM22)

It wasn't too molten - it flowed out extremely slow. Probably a little overdone but still very yummy!

Flourless Chocolate Souffle (RM18)

One of my favourite for the night. Flourless and yet SO GOOD?! It was very fluffy like some egg tart. We stuffed the entire sorbet in and boy it was HEAVEN. This is a MUST order!! Super duper fluffy!

3 Sorbets (RM18)

Most of their desserts come with a scoop of sorbet. If you can't decide, just get their sorbets. It is very, very light and refreshing. It is not the milky version, it is really so light that it melts immediately when it meets the tongue! The Yuzu was one of my personal favourite, I could have that sour thing ALL DAY AND NIGHT.

Their service is slightly slow - perhaps they are still new. Nevertheless, when they attend to us, they try their very best. Their staffs are very nice and helpful people. As for their food, I'm not keen with their savoury food as I find it a little too boring and it's way too expensive. It's a little way too expensive and we were only given IKEA's plates... Nothing wrong with that, just feel that the price of the food does not match with the plates - at least provide better quality plates or set the price lower. I personally find that they need to refine their menu otherwise it will not attract people to return for the second time. Nevertheless, I love their dessert menu and hope they turn into a dessert bar or something. All their desserts are so good it makes you want to have everything!

I was confused AF when I wanted to order. All I wanted was just a cup of yogurt but what the hell they have it in so many forms and those toppings are giving me so much trouble picking them!

So I've decided to get the small one which ones with one topping. If you're like me being confused AF, just get one small one with NO toppings. Much easier to decide otherwise people behind you will be thinking what the hell is wrong with you for taking so long. Not like I spent a long time, I'm just saying that there may be some froyo lovers dying for one behind you.

RM10.90 for a cup with one topping.

I like mine without topping actually. The sweet topping and the sour yogurt doesn't blend. Perhaps I'm one of those who loves it plain sour.

This has got to be my new favourite neighbourhood cafe! They serve Green Tea Latte (RM10)! How rare...

The sandwich is freshly made, you know it's right when the bread is nicely toasted and the meat is still lukewarm! We had slight complications with the bread but the lady (presumably the owner or the manager) resolved it really quickly. She was so apologetic about it (and I felt quite bad as I did not want anything in return) and insisted to give us a slice of lemon cake as compensation. Don't get me wrong, this has nothing to do with the taste, this Pork Bacon Sandwich (RM16) is highly recommended!

Never would I have thought that the Chicken Chop (RM17) would turn out to be so good! I was just expecting mediocre quality, like typical ones you get at the mamak stalls where you would have to rely on sauces because it is too dry. But nooooo... The meat is so succulent! I don't even need the brown sauce at the side to do justice.. I actually love it without the sauce!

Brunch was absolutely fantastic I had to get myself a slice of cake after.

I've gotten us a slice of Jasmine Green Tea Mille Crepe Cake (RM13), as I do not really fancy chocolate based cakes (apart from Red Velvet!). I really love this cake, it is not sweet at all, which suits me well. It has really strong combination of both green tea and jasmine flavours. You tea lover might love it!

I will definitely be back again for brunch, their food is really worth paying for. Their selection of cakes are great plus the service is excellent. What else can you ask for from a neighbourhood cafe?!

Just another cafe in Uptown, focusing on Japanese products. But just scroll down for some of their specialties, it's more than just another cafe.

They serve various types of tea - quite a few choices which I've then decided to go for their popular pick. We tried both the basic Hoji Tea (RM10) and Green Tea (RM10).

For those who loves Japanese sweets, they have a few items which are great to go with the tea.

Sakura Mochi (RM5)

Warabi Mochi (RM7)

Ichigo Daifuku (RM5)

There is also a range of hot tea, cold tea, milk tea and smoothie. As for savoury food, they did not look quite appealing to me.

Look at the sweets we've ordered - these look exactly the same with the models!

Tea is refillable. The hot water's temperature is probably controlled in the kettle sitting right on the electric stove. They have special tea equipment to prepare the tea and to refill it. It's really not your regular afternoon tea.

We were offered some cold tea to try. It was not in the menu at the point of visit.

Menu is absolutely limited, would be a pleasure for more choices - could work a little on savoury and bring in more sweets. All in all, it's a great place for Japanese tea and sweets for an afternoon break!
