Wan tan - I doubt these are really good, it was soft and it breaks apart. Not properly in tact but I guess it's fine for char chan teng quality.
A friend was craving for borscht soup - it's so different from the version we get in Klang Valley where it's just downright diluted. This was just a random shop we went and we liked it already - flavourful, thick, and it's actual soup! Nevertheless, I think I love Russian bosrcht soup more....
Char chan teng's must have - toasts!
We always watch TVB dramas where they would order truffle with scrambled eggs for breakfast - so here we are, truffle with scrambled eggs served with toasts!
It's right at Lan Kwai Fong - what a strategic place where people can grab some bites after drinking.
Likes: Convenient, average cafe food
Dislikes: Too commercialised

Shrimp and Vege Dumpling (HKD 59)
This place serves really picture worthy dimsum that looks pretty but tastes pretty average. It's just colouring on siu mai... And they can charge much higher.
Sichuan Style Buns (HKD49)
I first had cute buns at
Hong Kong Disneyland.. and it became a trend everywhere else. Nothing wrong with that, it's a great thing to know that people love cute and picture worthy food where taste is secondary. To be honest, the Sichuan style bun tastes so weird... Not the regular bao, it's the China ma lat pepper kind of taste.
Hot Custard Bun (HKD49)
Despite the cutesy and all, this lao sar bao is actually one of the better ones among all.
Steamed BBQ Pork Rice Roll (HKD59)
It's just a very regular steamed rice roll that has a better presentation.
I'm glad I came only for a short tea break. If I were to be having lunch, I would have been ripped off bad. I think I fed my camera more than myself.
Likes: Cute?
Dislikes: Very average quality, charge sky prices just because it's cute. But it's just very regular dimsum... Nothing to shout about.

This shop has been around for years now - not sure how long exactly.l It's located in Pudu, one of the lanes from Pudu Plaza. They offer a variety of Malaysian desserts - angku, Malay kuih, fried radish cake, Hakka abacus beads, and the list goes on. One of my favourite is the egg tea - possibly something you don't get out of Malaysia. Some of their desserts are quite bland but I would say the quality is rather inconsistent. Sometimes the bubur chacha is thick, sometimes it's really thin. Nevertheless, I'm always happy with my egg tea.
They restock their kuihs twice a day - for morning and evening shift. Once it runs out, it runs out.
I would normally take away instead of having it there - didn't like the place as it's not very clean and flies just can't stop sticking to humans. Such nuisance...
Likes: Reasonable price for the portion, lots of choices, fresh traditional kuihs
Dislikes: Dirty, parking is horrendous, food runs out very quickly so be there early morning or early evening (can't remember the second slot of restock - either 5pm or 6pm)

Pink Beetroot Latte (IDR35k) & Mango Pineapple Smoothie Bowl (IDR65k)
This is definitely an uprising cafe in Bali's lists of cafe to visit... It was just across the street from our hotel so we popped by for breakfast.
I've got to admit I ordered this because it was beautifully pink - it's not very often you see coffee in such colour.. It tastes horrible though, the beetroot that created the pink is so pungent I just cannot take it. On a positive note, if you love beetroot this is the right drink for you! But don't be like me if you dislike beetroot. It is seriously not drinkable at all.
Likes: Beautiful, very instagram/picture worthy place, reasonable price, great selection
Dislikes: Lots of flies in the cafe, don't see any effort to keep them away
